"Dr John Fisher": A fake figure of Internet created an absolutely fake multiconference

This is to report to the research community that the following conference (http://ariespub.com) organized by John Fisher (may be a fake name) is now proven to be fake in that they accepted a fake paper:

Name of Conference: ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo
Location: Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, India
Date: December 1-4, 2011
Conference Web Site: http://ariespub.com

ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo in Chennai, India accepted a fake paper in which the first page was copied off of Wikipedia and the rest was generated using the SCIGEN fake paper generator (http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/scigen/).

In the review report, they actually say that the author acknowledges in the paper that the first page was copied off of Wikipedia, but ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo still accepts the paper.

I also believe that the organizer of ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo in Chennai, India is using a fake name because while he calls himself Prof. Dr. John Fisher, he doesn't say at which university he is a professor.

A fake paper was submitted for evaluation using the EasyChair paper submission system (http://easychair.org) and a notification of acceptance was received from ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo.

See the email messages below:

Fake Paper Submission Confirmation Email

Fake Paper Submission Receipt Email

Fake Paper Acceptance Email

The following attachments were provided by ANNA WORLD '11 - The 2011 World Congress & Expo in their acceptance email for the fake paper:

Finally, the IEEE is involved with IRAST ridiculous conferences

See the site: www.irast.org or better http://www.irast.org/conferences.html They have (at the moment) 2 fake conferences!
You can read the phrase:
"CACS 2010 conference proceedings will be published by the Conference Publishing Services (CPS) which will include the conference proceedings in IEEE Xplore and submit the proceedings to Ei Compendex and ISTP for indexing."

Draw your own conclusions. The people of IRAST.ORG are really diabolic! They remove the IEEE Logo from their fake conferences, but they continue using the IEEE Publications Services and they advertize their conference tourism via IEEE Xplore (the data base with the most junk papers!)

Partial Success of the blog "Look what papers the IEEE Conferences accept" against the Fake Conferences of IEEE

Recently the Blog "Look what papers the IEEE Conferences accept" had some (partial) success against the Fake Conferences of IEEE.
According to opinion of many scholars a 40%-60% of IEEE Conferences are absolutely fake conferences.
[In the blog http://anti-ieee.blogspot.com/ you can see a several new examples of IEEE Fake Conferences ]
Anyway, the Blog "Look what papers the IEEE Conferences accept" had access because pressing the IEEE via the web, the IEEE retracted the sponsorship of the fake conferences of the "institute"
IRAST

They have their post of Fake Conferences of 5th of July as follows:
Monday, 5 July 2010
After the PROTESTS of our Blog and our emails, the IEEE retracked its Sponsorship to http://irast.org/conferences.html
After the PROTESTS of our Blog and our emails, the IEEE retracked its Sponsorship to

However, IEEE Continues supporting the Bogus Events of www.iaria.org
The IEEE Business continues with pseudo-conferences of IARIA

We have found also a good list of IEEE bogus Conferences

We agree with them. Certainly the IEEE support several Fake Conferences

This is one more academic spam from IEEE. They did not include any procedure of email taking off in their academic spam for their fake IEEE conference.

International Conference on Data Mining 2010

Data Mining Contest: "Road Traffic Prediction for Intelligent GPS Navigation"

Web page: http://tunedit.org/challenge/IEEE-ICDM-2010
Prizes: 5,000 USD

Over the last century, the number of cars engaged in vehicular traffic in cities has increased rapidly, causing many difficulties for all citizens: traffic jams, large and unpredictable communication delays, pollution, etc. Excessive traffic became a civilization problem that affects everyone who lives in a city of 50,000 people or more, anywhere in the world. Complexity of processes that stand behind traffic flow is so large, that only data mining algorithms may bring efficient solutions to these problems.

The task of this year's ICDM Data Mining Contest is to predict city road traffic for the purpose of intelligent driver navigation and improved journey planning. The three contest problems are related to congestion forecasting, modeling of traffic jams, and smart navigation based on real-time GPS monitoring. Datasets come from a highly realistic simulator of city traffic, Traffic Simulation Framework. The competition is organized on TunedIT Challenges data mining platform by the team of researchers from University of Warsaw, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics. Prizes worth $5,000 in total will be awarded to the winners.

Everyone is welcome to participate. Competition starts now and will last till September 6th, 2010. More details onhttp://tunedit.org/challenge/IEEE-ICDM-2010

Please forward this information to your colleagues and students.

Invitation as Member of Advisory Committee by SPAM!

YES

Many Universities consider that many IEEE Conferences are garbage. Some of them consider that even in the IEEE Journals the review is quite ridiculous and has only to do with your public relations in IEEE and its conferences or if you have put as co-author

IEEE Conferences (type of PETRE DINI) is really PSEUDOSCIENCE

IEEE Conferences (type of PETRE DINI) is really PSEUDOSCIENCE.
No review. No comments. Only tours.
Petre Dini conferences with the trademark "IARIA" has good tours on mountains and beaches, but no science.
We, the tax-payers, pay really the fake conference of IEEE and IARIA. Aren't we?

IARIA pseudo-events are quite fake ceonferences, since they guarantee that if you send them a SCIgen paper and some money, they will publish it.

If you do not know what is a "SCIgen" paper, search by google: SCIgen

Ty to google also: IEEE Fake or IARIA Fake

new bogus papers in IEEE

new bogus papers in IEEE
What a SHAME for IEEE

1) Rob Thomas: Rooter: A Methodology for the Typical Unification of
Access Points and Redundancy, 2005 for WMSCI (see above)
Technical Co-Sponsored by IEEE!

2) Professor Genco G=FClan published a paper in the 3rd International
Symposium of Interactive Media Design
http://ce.sharif.edu/~ghodsi/soft-group/misc/AMC-paper.pdf

3) IEEE IARIA Conference accepted another bogus paper:
http://iaria-highsci.blogspot.com/2008/12/we-have-letter-of-acceptance-fantastic.html

4) A paper titled "Towards the Simulation of E-Commerce" by Herbert
Schlangemann
got accepted as a reviewed paper at the "International Conference on
Computer Science and Software Engineering"
(CSSE) and was briefly in the IEEE Xplore Database
http://diehimmelistschoen.blogspot.com/
. The author is named after the Swedish short film Der Schlangemann.
Furthermore the author was invited to be a session chair during the
conference
https://sites.google.com/site/herbertschlangemann/Home/csse2008_program.pdf=
?attredirects=3D0
Read the official Herbert Schlangemann Blog for details[11].

The official review comment: "This paper presents cooperative
technology and classical Communication.
In conclusion, the result shows that though the much-touted amphibious
algorithm for the refinement
of randomized algorithms is impossible, the well-known client-server
algorithm for the
analysis of voice-over- IP by Kumar and Raman runs in _(n) time. The
authors can clearly
identify important features of visualization of DHTs and analyze them
insightfully. It is
recommended that the authors should develop ideas more cogently,
organizes them more
logically, and connects them with clear transitions"

6) In 2009, the same incident happened and Herbert Schlangemann's
latest fake paper "PlusPug:
A Methodology for the Improvement of Local-Area Networks" has been
accepted for oral
presentation at another international computer science conference
[12]. Recently, Denis Baggi, Chairman, IEEE CS confessed, according to
a comment on the Schlangemann Blog, that "Selection criteria such a
refereeing etc. are meaningless", probably means that IEEE has
accepted the unreliability and bogusity of its conferences. Denis
Baggi also adds: "Articles should be written only if someone has
something to tell others, in which case the validity of the paper is
obvious".

7) Recently, fake papers appeared in several IEEE conferences,
because the IEEE grants its name and its logo to many local organizers
who supposedly do
not conduct a thorough review process. It is being argued that such
conferences only
exist to make money out of researchers that are looking for a simple
way to publish their work,
in particular publishers like IARIA, http://www.iaria.org, HIGHSCI
http://www.highsci.org and SRP
http://www.scirp.org appear questionable. As seen from their web
sites, IARIA, HIGHSCI and SRP
use the name of IEEE and the IEEE publishing services, thus attracting
numerous papers.

Dear President of the IEEE

Dear President of the IEEE

I am a freelance journalist who specialises in scholarly communication and in Bogus IEEE ConferencesI understand that you are the founder of IEEE Spam System in GermanyI have previously been in communication with Johan and Petr and asked him if we could organise an interview with you as President of IEEEfor me. However, I did not heard back from him on this matter. In our email exchange Petr was kind enough to address some concerns that had been raised with me by a number of researchers, who appeared to be on IEEE Spam System but do not wish to be. Despite their best efforts they had been unable to have themselves removed from your list.Meanwhile they were being bombarded with multiple junk emails advertizing jung stuff from IEEE.In an email to me of 11th May Petr assured me that two researchers I mentioned to him had been contacted by IEEE Spam System and that their names had been removed. Unfortunately at least one is still being sent unsolicited email (see below), and is very frustrated by it.I have also had a number of other researchers raise with me the issue of peer review in connection with IEEE Conferences. You provide sponsorship to anybody and many times the IEEE Conferences have accepted and published papers produced by SCIgen or are totally garbage.I am sure these are all misunderstandings and can be settled in an interview. I would be most grateful therefore if you could spare the time to do a telephone interview with me about IEEE Conferences (that seems to be now fake meetings) and its activities (that are commercial activities).Actually, I would like to ask why do you give the Name and the Logo of IEEE to many institutions and individuals that work for making money from innocent people that want to extend their CV is an easy manner.I look forward to hearing from you.As you know everything about IEEE Spamferences (always bogus and always non-reliable, of course the IEEE Transactions are very good) you must reply to usThere are numerous minor IEEE conferences that are absolutely SCAM events, which may not be of greatest impact or quality, supposed to provide forums for younger researchers, or providing local platforms. The increasing number of bogus IEEE conferences in the west countries with many crappy papers and junk reports, seems to be an indication of this. These stupid conferences usually have mostly local attendants and sometimes they have papers and presentations in the local language, which makes it easier for local authors to submit and present. To me, most of these conferences look legitimate, but then there's the decidedly non-local approach, the grand über-conferences with titles that often sound like "34th intergalactic conference on science, nature, and other really complicated stuff" (maybe i should trademark that...). my personal favorite is "The 12th World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics", hosted by the godfather of spamferences, NAGIB CALLAOS with the approval and sponsorship of IEEE Spam.I ask you:Why did the IEEE grant the IEEE logo and IEEE firm to Nagib Callaos for so many years.Had the IEEE ever seen the Proceedings of Nagib Callaos?

Criticism concerning publishers----------------------------Recently, many fake papers appeared in several IEEE conferences, because the IEEE grants its name and its logo to many local organizerswho supposedly do not conduct a thorough review process. It is beingargued that such conferences only exist to make money out ofresearchers that are looking for a simple way to publish their work,in particular publishers like IARIA, http://www.iaria.org, HIGHSCIhttp://www.highsci.org and SRP http://www.scirp.org appearquestionable. As seen from their web sites, IARIA, HIGHSCI and SRP usethe name of IEEE and the IEEE publishing services, thus attractingnumerous papers. Some people to test some conference go further andsent the paper "A Statistical Method For Women That Can Help OurSexual Education" in the IEEE Conference organized by IARIA. Thispaper receive automatical acceptance within a few hours withsimultaneus "command" of direct payment. Unfortunately this paper wasnot published because the authors did not pay the registration fee. However the letter of acceptance is published on the web and anybodycan check it: http://iaria-highsci.blogspot.com/, http://scamieee.blogspot.com/

A letter from Evan M. Butterfield

A letter from Evan M. Butterfield (Director of Products & Services, IEEE Computer Society10662 Los Vaqueros Circle, Los Alamitos, CA 90720714.816.2165) informed in Jan 17, 2009 the following:The IEEE Computer Society (CS) has evidence that multiple (IEEE) conferences are receiving machine-generated papers. In two cases, conferences have actually accepted an obviously fraudulent submission. This is a serious issue that threatens the credibility of your conference, the quality of the digital library, and the reputation of both the IEEE and CS. It requires your immediate attention. Please take this opportunity to ensure that your peer review processes are being followed, and adapt to any new requirements that may be communicated by the IEEE or the Computer Society. No conference published by CPS should rely on an abstract review. It is very important that you review carefully the full text of all papers submitted to your conference. If you have already accepted papers, your program committee should review the full text again. While CPS staff will be conducting random spot-checks of conference papers in the publishing queue, we are relying on you to authenticate the content of your proceedings. Any papers that were not actually presented at your conference need to be brought to our attention, and should receive close review. In known cases, the machine-generated origin is obvious from a reading of the first few paragraphs of the paper; the abstracts are human-generated and do not indicate the quality of the paper itself. In the past, papers have been submitted by “Herbert Schlangemann,” but be mindful that the perpetrator of this fraud will change the approach over time. In the event you discover any evidence of questionable content or behavior, please communicate that to us immediately along with an action plan for addressing the problem. Thank you for your help in maintaining the quality of our products. See: http://bogusconferences.blogspot.com/2009/05/bogus-conferences-ieee-confess.html
